Join New Dialect for a 8 days of master classes in contemporary ballet, improvisation, and groundbreaking repertory tools with contemporary dancer Ana Maria Lucaciu of Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada, the Royal Danish Ballet, and Companhia Portuguesa de Bailado Contemporâneo.
Ana Maria is currently the rehearsal assistant to both Andrea Miller of Gallim and Alexander Ekman, resident choreographer with Netherlands Dans Theater.
In this Master Class Series, Ana Maria offers dancers her wealth of experience with some of today's most sought after choreographers.
About Ana Maria Lucaciu:
Ana was born in Bucharest, Romania. At the age of 11, she received a scholarship from the National Ballet School of Canada, where she completed her dance education. She joined the National Ballet of Canada and went on to dance with the Royal Danish Ballet, Germany’s Augsburg Ballet and Lisbon’s Contemporary Portuguese Dance Company and most recently, with New York’s Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, where she danced for seven years while earning her BFA in Dance at Empire State College. Lucaciu has performed works by Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, Hofesh Shechter, Jiří Kylián, Alexander Ekman, Lar Lubovitch, Alexei Ratmansky, and many others. Summer 2013, Ana Maria was rehearsal director for the Brooklyn-based company Gallim, directed by Guggenheim Fellow Andrea Miller. In 2014 she assisted Alexander Ekman, resident choreographer of Netherlands Dans Theater, with his new full length piece for the Norwegian Opera Ballet in Oslo, A Swan Lake. Ana is thrilled to be working with Banning Bouldin and New Dialect on the creation of a new work this summer.
