Contemporary Cross-Training Mission:
This contemporary dance training series offers advanced and professional dancers the opportunity to study a diverse range of contemporary dance concepts, vocabularies, and techniques on a daily basis. Designed to be a research lab for both dancers and teaching artists, New Dialect aims to create an environment where gifted teachers are encouraged to explore and refine their syllabi, and all participants are actively engaged in the process of identifying with clarity and confidence their own movement signatures. It is New Dialect’s goal to host and present high-level local, national, and international teaching artists on an ongoing basis. By further informing the dance community of the wide variety of high-quality movement vocabularies existing in the world of 21st century dance, we aspire to contribute to the bright future of contemporary dance in Nashville: training teachers, dancers, and choreographers to give, interpret, and make work that is well-researched and inspiring.
