On April 7 we'll be leading a sight-specific improvisation workshop at Cheekwood to celebrate their new Steve Tobin Southern Roots exhibit.
Southern Roots will feature work from Tobin’s Steelroots sculptures, an evolution of his signature bronze Walking Roots series. In addition to his massive sculptures in steel and bronze, Tobin also incorporates natural elements such as wood, glass and ceramics to create dramatic works of art.
Tobin’s newest series, using wood from fallen trees in Costa Rica, has never before been exhibited and will be a highlight of the indoor exhibition.
Our workshop will take place outdoors, where Banning will guide a structured improvisation in and around Tobin's large-scale sculptures, which are displayed throughout the Botanical Gardens.
The workshop will be open to people of all skill levels and is a precursor to our upcoming performance at Cheekwood on Sept 1.
