She's currently in residence at Springboard, where she's working with a cast of 14 dancers to create a new installation work for the foyer of USINE C in Montreal. Our very own Becca Place and Emma Morrison are also there assisting in the creation process.
The installation will premiere on June 26.
And we're thrilled to say our dear friends and collaborators Ana Maria Lucaciu and LJOVA joined Banning in Montreal to perform our duet Emin last night at the Place des Arts—New Dialect's first international show!
If you haven't seen it, here's Banning's introduction video for Springboard. Below is a description of Springboard, along with a list of this year's E-choreographers.
"Springboard Danse Montréal is committed to facilitating and showcasing the work of today’s up-and-coming choreographers. The Emerging Choreographers Project provides selected artists with elite dancers, 26 hours of studio space, and the opportunity to present work alongside our Principal Companies. Candidates are selected based on experience and the quality of their previous work. Every year, choreographers audition dancers from among the project participants on the first day of the program, and rehearsals are held in the evenings after the dancers have worked with the Principal Companies. This process culminates in a showing attended by company directors, presenters, agents, and potential producers of work. In addition to this unique professional development, Springboard also provides each Emerging Choreographer with the opportunity to engage with talented dancers who may become future collaborators."
