Join us for a week of contemporary master classes and creative process research with the founder of TOES FOR DANCE

David, a Toronto-born dance artist and entrepreneur, graduated from Juilliard School with a BFA in 2013. Over the past few years, he has had danced works by Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, William Forsythe, Paul Taylor and Jose Limon. He has performed and toured with Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre, Camille A. Brown and Dancers, Dancenorth, ZviDance, Jonah Bokaer, Brian Brooks Moving Co, Skanes Dansteater, Magma Dans, and Andersson Dance. 

In June 2015, the New York Times described David as "intense... yet vulnerable... sensual and raw." 

He is the founder of FRESH Dance Intensive, a touring dance workshop that promotes a faculty of emerging teaching artists, and the co-founder of TOES FOR DANCE, an initiative to promote contemporary dance in Ontario. 

David also serves on the Advisory Boards of Springboard Danse Montreal and The Equus Projects/OnSite NYC.

This year approximately 30 dancers from around the country will be joining us for a week of research in Bartenieff Movement Fundamentals, Flooring/Falling/Sliding, Ballet for Contemporary Dancers, Contact Improvisation, Contemporary Partnering, Movement Generation Tools, and Creative Process Research.

3. Youtube/Vimeo link that includes elements of the following:

  • 1 traveling/across the floor combination exhibiting ballet and/or modern technique training
  • a contemporary solo
  • 2 improvisation sequences of contrasting themes/tasks and physicality

 

Tuition for the New Dialect Summer Intensive is $400. New Dialect does not provide housing, meals, or transportation.
