"I was offered the opportunity by New Dialect to truly experiment and that is what I did. I didn't create a piece with any objective in mind, but instead allowed the moment to moment inspirations to drive and guide the piece along. Being in Nashville, in the warm heat, the languid rivers, and driving rains also informed my thoughts about how movement is born both by the conversation with dancers in the studio, and the influences of environment and community. Drifted River is the culmination of our time together, and the work we found in that journey." - ALEX
Drifted River was premiered during New Dialect's Season Two launch party, which took place on on August 15, 2015 on the roof of 105 Broadway in downtown Nashville. The above clip features Becca Place performing a solo from the work.
