Contemporary Technique + Improvisation Tools

  • Houston Station 434 Houston St Nashville, TN, 37203 United States (map)

Rebecca Allen guides dancers in a contemporary technique class designed to stimulate our imaginations and open new movement possibilities through improvisation using line, form, color, and a memory association writing game.

The memory writing exercise really helped create something new to think about; and then putting that into movement got me into new ways of moving and out of my patterns. I got out of my head and broke the rules.
— Amanda McAlister Howard, June 23

June 22-26 | Monday-Friday from 9:30-11 AM

In Contemporary Technique + Improvisation Tools, structured exercises informed by Limon and Cunningham techniques will serve as a point of departure for dancers to explore different physicalities and movement possibilities through improvisation. Dancers will be given the space to research and experiment with deriving energetic movement from imaginative line, form, and color.
