New Dialect returns to OZ Arts for the first time since our Broken Theater collaboration with Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber.

OZ has long been a home for our premieres, and this time the bill will feature a new work built and envisioned with the poet Ciona Rouse and the theater savant Rus Snelling. The production is entitled Declaration, and it is very much a work of reworking.

The second half of the bill will star Echo Mother, a duet that was commissioned by Grace French and was installed at Bastion, the beloved restaurant on Houston Street that is, in its own right, a theater for performance art. That original installation was created by Banning and Madison Brott, and afterwards Banning worked with Phylicia Roybal to expand and refine it into a duet fit for proscenium presentations. The latest iteration received its debut at the Wortham in Asheville and will receive its Nashville debut at OZ.
