H E A P is about bringing people together who believe differently, look differently, speak differently, and experience life differently to celebrate our diversity and grow in deep appreciation and respect for one another.

- Banning Bouldin, Artistic Director

H E A P is an ongoing contemporary dance installation project that draws on the movements and statements of people from diverse communities to create performances that inspire inclusion, celebrate diversity, and re-imagine the places we inhabit.

To create future iterations of this work, we are currently compiling anonymous personal statements from people during our pop-up installations.

If individuals feel comfortable doing so, we ask them to respond to the following prompt:

I AM _____________________________________________.

We then take their written responses back to our rehearsal studio and begin translating their statements into movements.

The material created in this way will be choreographed into the next HEAP installation, and so the piece will continually evolve from location to location, as New Dialect accumulates stories from people across the city and elsewhere.
