Our 2-week intensive gives advanced/professional dancers ages 18+ the opportunity to research a variety of contemporary dance approaches and tools essential to equipping today’s contemporary artists for careers in our ever-evolving field. 

New Dialect’s faculty and guest artist, Navarra Novy-Williams, will lead daily sessions in Gaga, Ballet for Contemporary Dancers, Movement Generation, Dance Theatre techniques, Contemporary Partnering, Somatic Practices, Contact Improvisation, and New Dialect Repertory.

Participating dancers will draw on their research of these methods to engage in a daily creative process led by artistic director, Banning Bouldin

New Dialect's Summer Intensive 2018 will culminate in a site-specific installation and showing on Friday, July 6, at 5pm.

The deadline for application submission is March 31, 2018.

 All applicants will receive email notification of their admission status no later than April 20.

Tuition for Summer Intensive 2018 is $800. 

New Dialect does not provide housing, meals, or transportation. Please inquire for a list of housing and travel options. 

Your Application Video should include elements of the following:

  • 1 traveling/across the floor combination exhibiting ballet and/or modern technique training
  • a contemporary solo
  • 2 improvisation sequences of contrasting themes/tasks  

Navarra Noy-Williams

Navarra was born in New York City and was fortunate to receive her early training from Elaine Kudo and Buddy Balou in Verona, New Jersey. In 2006 she graduated from The Juilliard School with a BFA in Dance. She joined Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal in 2006 where she performed works by choreographers Nacho Duato, Ohad Naharin, Stijn Celis, Mats Ek, Mauro Bigonzetti, Jean Christophe Maillot, Shen Wei, Didy Veldman, Christopher Wheeldon, and George Balanchine. In 2009 she moved to Israel to dance in the Batsheva Ensemble.

She joined Cedar Lake Contemporary in 2010, where she performed original works by Hofesh Schecter, Crystal Pite, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Jo Stromgren, and Alexander Ekman. She has taught at Cedar Lake 360&180 summer intensives, at the Southern Vermont Dance Festival, and teaches Gaga throughout NYC.
